Daimler Sovereign was a name of the British manufacturer Jaguar Cars, applied to a range of luxury cars built by Jaguar between 1966 and 1983, wearing the Daimler badge.

The Daimlers were based on Jaguar bodies and technology, and was a typical example of badge engineering. Jaguar Cars took over the Daimler company in 1960, and the 1966 Sovereign was the second Daimler based on a Jaguar model. The first was the 2 ½ liter V8 engine designed by Edward Turner. Unlike the Daimler 2 ½ liter the Sovereign had a Jaguar engine, which also meant the end of Turner designed engines.

The first was based on the Sovereign Daimler Jaguar 420 and is sometimes referred to as the “Sovereign 420”. Later types are the Series I, II and III Jaguar XJ6.
The V12 versions of the Daimler, available from 1972 to 1997, were named Daimler Double-Six after the original Daimler V12s.

    Sovereign coupe (XJ Series II)
Jaguar produced a few called ‘pillarless’ coupe versions of the Series II with the short wheelbase floorpan. They were available in both 6 and 12 cylinders. The more exclusive Daimler version offered here is one of them. Total production was only 399 copies! Of these, there were 27 LHD, offered car is number 8.
